Water Regime Needs for Native Plants in the MDB

Source: http://www.clw.csiro.au/publications/technical2000/

The Water Regime of Wetland & Floodplain Plants in the Murray-Darling Basin. A Source Book of Ecological Knowledge. By Jane Roberts and Frances Marston (http://www.clw.csiro.au/publications/technical2000/ ), is a compilation of existing information on water regime information for native plants of lowland river systems within the Murray-Darling Basin (MDB).

The information in the technical paper is relevant for those planning river flows or making water allocations in relation to particular floodplains, single billabongs and large floodplain wetland complexes.

For each species likely to dominate lowland wetland or floodplain systems in the MDB, information is supplied for the water regime requirements to ensure both; growth, flowering and survival of a plant, and, the establishment of a new generation.

CSIRO Land and Water have a series of technical reports published on their website at: http://www.clw.csiro.au/publications/technical2000/ . Topics covered are as diverse as agriculture, groundwater and wetlands.
