CMA Incentive Program

Southern Rivers

There are many programs in the region that can assist landholders to better manage and protect wetlands. Please contact Southern Rivers CMA on 4224 9700 for advice on wetland management.

South Coast

Coast and Estuary Incentives

A program that provides funding to local government to support implementation of Estuary Management Plans, including works to protect and rehabilitate coastal wetlands.

Revive Southern Rivers Wetlands

The program is a partnership with Conservation Volunteers Australia that is providing support to communities in protecting and restoring five wetlands in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven areas.

Work programs are being undertaken at Tom Thumb Lagoon, Werri Lagoon, Coomonderry Swamp, Lake Conjola and Burrill Lake. Volunteers are always welcome to assist in works at any of these wetlands.

Southern Rivers Bush Incentive Scheme

This scheme provides funds to private landholders to protect and manage higher conservation value native vegetation, including wetland vegetation under a management agreement with the CMA. A call for landholder proposals will be undertaken from late January 2006 with a focus on lands in the area of St Georges Basin, Jervis Bay, Nowra and Berry areas and the Southern Tablelands in the areas of Reedy, Boro and Nerrimunga catchments and the Mid-Shoalhaven.

Shoalhaven and Illawarra

Shoalhaven and Illawarra River Rehabilitation

This program provides funds to undertake work to protect and restore waterways on private and public land, which may include wetland environments. Works funded include off-stream watering, fencing, erosion control, revegetation and other measures to enhance riparian and in-stream values.

Bega Valley

Bega River Health Package

Funds available for environmental management works, including: nutrient and effluent management, laneways, wetland protection and rehabilitation and wetland grazing management.

Bega Wetland Strategy

Development of best management practice guidelines for wetlands, and protection and rehabilitation of high conservation value wetlands in the lower Bega River catchment.

Bega River Catchment sediment management program

Construction of erosion control structures to protect intact upland valley fills and rehabilitation of the riparian corridors adjacent to these valley fills.

Bega Valley Riparian incentives programs

Incentives available for wetland and riparian protection and enhancement in the Bega Valley. Focus on integrating wetland protection with conservation and production across the landscape through the development of farm plans.

Tuross and Bombala River programs

Tuross River rehabilitation program

Wetland protection and rehabilitation, promotion of better management of wetlands within grazing systems.

Bombala River rehabilitation

Identifying and better managing high value upland swamps and wetlands which provide water retention, habitat and sediment retention.

Snowy River rehabilitation program

Within this program, there is scope for protection, rehabilitation and promotion of better management of wetlands in the Snowy River catchment.

Within this program, there is scope for protection, rehabilitation and promotion of better management of Upland Wetlands of the Monaro Plateau.

Eurobodalla Biodiversity Program

This program is designed to protect and restore identified vulnerable or sensitive ecosystems and core fauna habitat in the Eurobodalla Shire. There are specific foci within the project on threatened ecosystems and species conservation and estuary and coastal lake protection and enhancement.
